2.52 ct Untreated Colombian Emerald
After weeks of looking our broker in Bogota found us a gorgeous untreated Colombian emerald, with excellent cutting and clarity. As you know, untreated emeralds are extremely rare - especially those over 2 carats! It is a luminous ("glowy") medium-light bluish green color with a brilliant radiant cut, resulting in a brighter and livelier stone than the typical dark step-cut emerald. Excellent proportions, brilliance, and polish, and a Chelsea emerald filter shows a strong level of chromium as the coloring agent. Please contact us if you'd like to see a video or a copy of the lab report.
New photos added 16 May. As every professional gemologist or gemcutter knows, camera sensors, lighting temperature and various display types can greatly alter color perception. This is especially true for some bright brilliant cuts, green stones, and those stones with chromium (which is known to play tricks on camera sensors). So when you've got a stone with all three characteristics it takes some additional effort to get the color to appear true-to-life! The new studio shots were taken with new generation daylight LED bulbs, the hand shot with an iPhone XS, and the remaining photo is from the emerald lab report. No one can properly judge a stone purely from a photo - it really needs to be seen in your hand in your lighting - but this should be closer to real life. Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions.
