1.33 ct Parisite
Parisite is a rare mineral, first discovered at the famous emerald mines in Colombia's Muzo emerald region. It was named for J.J. Paris, who managed a Muzo mine in the early 1800's. We acquired the rough stone in Bogota on our recent trip, and since the rough shape strongly suggested a pear shape that's what we went with. Precision cut, clean for this material, and an attractive brownish-orange color. The hardness is only 4.5 so it's best suited for a collector. GIA Identification Report included.
This gemstone was featured in the Lab Notes section of the Spring 2019 of GIA Gems and Gemology because it is the first time a faceted parisite gem had everbeen examined by GIA.
