Originally developed in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the Old European Cut (OEC) is a classic diamond style that predates the modern brilliant cut. An OEC features a small table, high crown, deep pavilion, large chunky facets, and an open culet that produces the characteristic “Kozibe effect” - a cool reflection of the culet visible in the crown’s main facets.
