Topaz
Topaz comes in many colors – colorless, blue, gold, pink and a rich peach to sherry-red color known as Imperial Topaz. Blue was once the rarest color of all, but is now produced by treating colorless topaz to blue, and is quite inexpensive. Yellow topaz is an alternative birthstone for November. It is a very hard gemstone, but because it has “perfect cleavage” like a diamond it can be split with a sharp blow. As a result, topaz should be protected from hard knocks.
